"Additive- and preservative-free, featuring 100 percent whole-wheat pizza dough, zpizza was early out of the gate in the organic/natural pizza niche, and is the biggest chain in the sector," Forbes writes.

Z Pizza isn't the area's only option for artisan pizza, though--Katie Lee has been dishing out St. Louis' favorite pizzas for five years. She and her fiancee and business partner, Ted Collier, are hard at work on their new restaurant in Rock Hill, Katie's Pizza and Pasta.
