A printed Halston Heritage front-tie dress ($304) goes well with a black Sleeveless leather cuff ($295) and a gold ADA Sobrecita clutch ($198).

To give a little edge to a neutral-colored Gianna print Karina Grimaldi mini-dress ($223), add a brown Mike Gonzalez leather jacket ($670), a Jacqueline Rose medallion necklace ($245) and a Jacqueline Rose ring ($90).

The Facts

Owner Laurie Solet opened her Clayton boutique at 8228 Forsyth Blvd. in May 2003.

"I was ready to move back home," Solet, a St. Louis native, said.

Solet got her degree in advertising from Southwest Missouri State University and went on to do film advertising in Los Angeles and London.

"I wanted to give the ladies of St. Louis a few more fashion options," Solet said.

She said she found the Forsyth Boulevard location after a friend who worked in the same building suggested the space.

"Clayton was busting at the seams with retail," Solet said. "It was the perfect place to be."

In October 2009, Solet opened her in Town and Country.

"We had been looking for a few years, and everything just fell into place," Solet said.

Up next for Laurie Solet (the store) is a "Pitch Your Parka" event throughout the month of October. Customers can bring in gently used jackets and coats to receive $20 off a $100 purchase (at either location). The used jackets and coats will be donated to St. Martha's Hall, a shelter for abused women and children in St. Louis.

More information about Laurie Solet can be found on the store's website.
