Dough Raised: Katie's Pizzeria Hits Fundraising Goal for New Restaurant

Kickstarter supporters helped Katie Lee raise more than $40,000 to open a new artisan pizza and pasta spot in Rock Hill.

There's still a day left for Katie’s Pizzeria fans to contribute to owner Katie Lee's Kickstarter to open a new restaurant

Supporters helped her raise the full $40,000 required to receive funding, which she will use to expand her artisan cooking to Rock Hill. And it's no surprise--Katie’s Pizzeria has won Best Pizza from Sauce Magazine four out of its five years in business.

Lee launched the Kickstarter campaign in late January in hopes of opening Katie's Pizza and Pasta. In exchange for their financial support, Lee is offering perks from a complimentary drink to a pizza designed and named in the backer's honor. (Lee even hosted a cocktail party for backers to sample appetizers for the new restaurant this past weekend.)

Support to the Kickstarter began rapidly. The restaurant was approximately 25 percent of the way to their goal prior to a KSDK report on Feb. 7; by the end of that weekend, more than half of the funds had been pledged.
