Breaking: Worker Injured In Scaffolding Collapse

Workers at SSM St. Mary's in Richmond Heights were involved in a scaffolding collapse Thursday.

According to Richmond Heights Battalion Chief Steve Carman, the safety harness supporting the scaffolding gave way. The scaffolding collapsed into a tree below.

All four window washers on the scaffolding were in safety harnesses. Three were quickly pulled into the office building and one was left dangling from the side of the building.

The person dangling was quickly rescued by Richmond Heights and Clayton Fire personnel. He suffered rope burns on his hands and was being treated at St. Mary's.

Jennifer Iannone, a spokesperson for SSM, said the men were washing the windows of the 1035 Medical Building when the accident occurred.
