  • Run Time: 112 mins.
  • Starring: Mark Ruffalo, Gwyneth Paltrow, Josh Gad, Tim Robbins, Alecia Moore, Joely Richardson
  • Rated: R
Mark Glass, Patch blogger: ***½ (R)This dramedy, with more emphasis on the serious side, offers some insights into sex addiction and methods of dealing with it. Despite the subject matter, there’s very little titillation or voyeuristic content. Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins and Josh Gad are the main characters dealing with that (and some other types of addiction) through 12-step programs. They’re in various stages of admitting to and coping with their problems. Read the full review

Prisoners
  • Run Time: 146 mins.
  • Starring: Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Melissa Leo, Maria Bello, Terrance Howard
  • Rated: R
Mark Glass, Patch blogger: *½ (R) If you hear any Oscar buzz surrounding this grim drama about a couple of young girls abducted from their middle-class suburban neighborhood on Thanksgiving, consider finding new sources. Hugh Jackman and Terrence Howard play the frantic, grieving dads; Maria Bello and Viola Davis, the devastated moms; Jake Gyllenhaal, the cop in charge of finding them before it’s too late. Read the full review

  • Starring: Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Edward Norton, John Cusack, Martin Sheen, Danny DeVito,
  • Rated: PG-13
Mark Glass, Patch blogger: *** (PG-13) This documentary about one of America’s most celebrated and enigmatic authors is fascinating, if flawed. Those who know little beyond his having written The Catcher in the Rye before spending his last 40+ years in seclusion will find many compelling events in his troubled life story, like the profound effects of his losses and experiences during World War II that shaped so much of his writing and personal journey. Read the full review

The Wizard of Oz (IMAX 3D)
  • Run Time: 101 mins.
  • Starring: Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley
  • Rated: G
Mark Glass, Patch blogger: ***** (PG) Like most Americans under 80, I’ve only seen this 1939 classic on TV. This chance to catch it not only on a really big screen, but with 3-D enhancements is a genuine treat. Read the full review
