Patch Picks: Easter Egg Hunts Near Clayton and Richmond Heights

Whether you prefer your eggs to be made of chocolate, of plastic or by birds, this is the season to search for them in the grass.

This Easter weekend, you have your choice of traditional church Easter egg hunts, White House-style Easter egg rolls or grownup fun hunting for eggs in the dark. Here are five options within driving range of Clayton and Richmond Heights.

  1.   Kids in grades 5 and  under are welcome to hunt in the grass around the Old Meeting House, 2250 N. Geyer Rd., in search of colored presents left by the Easter Bunny. The event is free and open to the public.
  2. Easter Egg-Citement in Belleville - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday  Hunting for Easter Eggs is great, but it’s even better with face painting, opportunities to pet baby bunnies and baby chicks, and a visit from the Easter Bunny. $10 per child.
  3. Enrichment Eggstravaganza — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday Egg hunts aren’t just for humans! The St. Louis Zoo staff have deposited eggs in the cages of plenty of animals. Take your kids to the zoo and see if they can find the holiday surprises in different cages. Admission to the zoo is free, but if you pick up a $10 safari pass, you’ll get a bonus bag of candy in addition to admission to the Children’s Zoo and the railroad.
  4. Magic House Egg Roll — Monday  The Magic House in Kirkwood is following in the tradition of the White House. Bring your kids ages 12 and under for a chance to race eggs across the lawn and compete for a Medal of Egg-sellence. Egg rolling is included with admission to the museum.
  5. Adults Only Egg Hunt — 6:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday  Grownups, bring your flashlights to Edgar M. Queeny County Park! You’re not hunting wabbits, but you are hunting 20,000 bunny eggs while enjoying adult beverages. Tickets are $10. Who knows? You might accidentally meet your future spouse in a dark park as you both reach for the same prize winning egg. Good luck!
