House Prowl: Old-World Charm on West Polo Drive

We've got a little bit of everything this week—a mansion, a condo and a bungalow.

This week, Clayton-Richmond Heights Patch takes you to a condominium, a mansion and a bungalow. All properties described are for sale.

First up is another visit to Maryland Walk, 8025 Maryland Ave. This week, we’re going down a few floors to check out Unit 2J listed by Christine Cool of Prudential Alliance Realtors for $789,000. This is a unique “J” floor plan—the last one left. It offers a great view of the Clayton skyline and streetscape.

As you walk in, you are greeted with a curved entry foyer wall that leads to a wall of windows and the balcony beyond. There are some amazing upgrades in this new three-bedroom, three-bathroom home, which sprawls over 2,181 square feet and features 11-foot ceilings. The gourmet kitchen includes a stainless chimney hood, 42-inch upper cabinets with soft-close drawers, a furniture-quality kitchen island with upgraded 1 1/4-inch granite, a full-height granite backsplash and a French door refrigerator.

The living area features hardwood floors, built-in bookcases, a fireplace and a large balcony with a gas line ready for grilling. To arrange a private tour, call Christine at 314-997-7600.

Next is 649 West Polo Dr., an elegant four-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath Georgian colonial home listed by Steven Lang and Stephanie Oliver of Dielmann Sotheby’s International Realty for $1.05 million. There is plenty of old-world craftsmanship throughout the building, including arched entryways with moldings, chair rails and wainscoting. The public areas offer plenty of space for entertaining.

The kitchen and hearth room have an old-world feel with beamed ceilings and butcher-block counters. A rear staircase wraps in a half-spiral for easy access through the living quarters. Upstairs, the master suite features a sitting room and well-equipped bath. Three more bedrooms and a dramatic upper landing with a palladium window complete the living quarters.

Outside is a swimming pool, a shaded patio and plenty of established perennial gardens. For a private tour, call Steven or Stephanie at 314-725-0009.

Next up is a beautiful bungalow in Brentwood. Joan Tabbash-Curbow of Keller Williams Realty has 87 Chafford Woods listed at $214,900. A wonderful lot with plenty of space sets the stage for this all-brick home that features two bedrooms and one bath. There are gorgeous hardwood floors throughout, and the kitchen has been updated with granite countertops, custom cabinetry, tile flooring, updated fixtures and newer appliances.

The bright family room spans the entire length of the rear and looks out over a private backyard with mature trees and a newer patio. For a closer look, call Joan at 314-565-8220.
