Four Times the Fun: Quadruplets Born at SSM St. Mary's

Quadruplets were delivered July 2 at SSM St. Mary’s Health Center in Richmond Heights.

The two boys and two girls, ranging in size from 2 pounds, 6 ounces to 3 pounds, 12 ounces, are breathing on their own and doing well in St. Mary’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), according to a press release.

“This is truly a special blessing,” said parents Aroloye and Salome Numbere of St. Louis. “We couldn’t be more pleased.”

The quadruplets are their first children.

Preparations for the birth began more than nine weeks ago with four labor and delivery/neonatal care teams on-call 24 hours a day, according to Dr. Mohamad Al-Hosni, medical director for SSM St. Mary’s NICU.

“We rehearsed every possible scenario and timeframe to avoid any surprises and ensure the healthiest outcomes for these babies,” said Dr. Al-Hosni said in a release.

Each of the babies had its own neonatal care team which included two physicians and a nurse.

“Everything went as planned,” Al-Hosni reported.

Dr. Al-Hosni estimated it would likely be about six weeks before the quadruplets would be going home.

This is the fourth set of quadruplets delivered at St. Mary’s since 2006.
