GREAT RIVERS GREENWAY HIRES NEW COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

The Great Rivers Greenway District is pleased to welcome Emma Klues as Communications Manager. Klues, who joined the District in late April, brings a unique combination of nonprofit and digital agency experience. She will oversee all communications and marketing strategies for the District in addition to special events promotions.

A St. Louis city resident for the past seven years, Klues’ prior experience includes work for two nonprofits – Forest ReLeaf of Missouri and StudioSTL. She also spent three years as an Account Manager on the social media team at Elasticity, a digital marketing agency specializing in social media, PR and search marketing. She is a graduate of University of Illinois in Urbana, Ill., where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Advertising with an Environmental Studies minor.

“Emma’s unique mix of skills, experience and passion is a great fit for our mission and current needs,” said Greg Brummit, Director of Conservation and Community Service for Great Rivers Greenway.

Klues is eager to tackle this new role that combines her professional skills and passion for the outdoors. As a lifelong camper, camp counselor and volunteer at Camp Ondessonk, active cyclist and Metrolink system commuter and also as a board member for her own Shaw Neighborhood Improvement Association, Klues sees how her lifestyle parallels the mission of Great Rivers Greenway. “Spending time outside and investing in the community has always been a priority for me,” says Klues. “I could not be more excited to contribute to an organization doing such great work to improve the quality of life for the entire region.”

Klues will be busy as the District continues to grow the River Ring trail system, which serves as a connection for residents and tourists to regional destinations and the outdoors. In May, the District opened two Greenways and will open the Carondelet Connector on June 7th, connecting the River des Peres trail to Carondelet Park. The District has completed 110 miles of the River Ring system, which will ultimately include 45 greenways and 600 miles of trail.
