Clayton-based Argent Hires Small Cap Equity Trader

ST. LOUIS - Argent Capital Management, LLC, has added Ward Brown as its small cap equity trader.   Brown will be solely dedicated to the small cap equity strategy.

Brown brings more than 15 years of experience to the firm and will work with Argent Co-portfolio Managers Joe Kinnison and Eddie Vigil. “This is a significant hire and step forward for Argent’s Small Cap strategy,” said Kinnison.  “We are excited by the breadth of knowledge and insight Ward adds to our team and process.”

Brown previously served as an equity execution consultant at the St. Louis office of Instinet, LLC, where he managed a book of institutional business, including domestic and international financial institutions, hedge funds as well as family offices.  Brown also served Bridge Trading Co., co-leading its institutional trading.  While serving Bridge’s UK office, he also developed its international brokerage arm.

“The addition of Ward represents another significant step in the growth of our firm and our ongoing commitment to the small cap equity strategy for our clients,” said John Meara, Argent president and chief investment officer. “His considerable skills will have an immediate impact on the continued success of the strategy.” 

Brown earned a degree in human and organizational development from Vanderbilt University.  He holds Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc. (FINRA) licenses 3, 7, 24, 55 and 63.
