 d presents&nbsp\;Como Fue\, a solo exhibition by&nbsp\;Lauren Cardenas\,
  the Artists&rsquo\; Guild&rsquo\;s&nbsp\;Fall 2012 Printmaking Artist-i
 n-Residence. The stark\, haunting prints in Cardenas&rsquo\;s exhibition
  evoke feelings of loneliness\, longing\,&nbsp\;and solitude.\nThrough h
 er work in&nbsp\;Como Fue\, Cardenas explores her long-standing interest
  in the voids found in domestic spaces. Cardenas&nbsp\;assembles her ima
 ges by taking mundane objects (such as bed sheets\, paper\, pills\, and 
 thread) and arranging them on a photocopier to create black and white co
 mpositions.&nbsp\;&ldquo\;I employ the photocopy machine as a tool\, exp
 loiting its immediacy in order to capture ephemeral moments in a static 
 picture plane\,&rdquo\;&nbsp\;says Cardenas. The dramatic interplay of p
 ositive and negative space in Cardenas&rsquo\;s work recalls the empty s
 paces we encounter in our everyday environments.
