A group of about 10 people with ties to Fontbonne University in Clayton will provide help later this week to Maryland Heights residents affected by Friday's tornado.The participants, including faculty and staff, will provide assistance in cooperation with Fontbonne Day. Numerous faculty, staff and students take the day to volunteer in places throughout the St. Louis area as part of the school's mission, which includes serving a world in need, said Mary Abkemeier, a professor of mathematics and computer science at the university. Richmond Heights is accepting monetary donations for people affected in Friday's storms, its website states.The collection box for cash or checks to benefit the American Red Cross is located at City Hall, 1330 S. Big Bend Blvd., and will be available through May 6. Checks should be made payable to the American Red Cross.
