New Year, New Hair Salon

For months, the brown paper covered the large plate glass windows at 1137 Bellevue, 63117, next to The In and Out Market. Finally, The Salon has opened!

Lisa Wiley, owner-stylist, has been cutting hair for 24 years. In September she signed a lease to move "Salon Demun" (formerly at the corner of Rosebury and Demunn in Clayton). What followed was a "gut re-hab" of the new space which included exposing the brick on the back wall and a light chocolate and brick red decor. There are four hair cutting stations and Ms Wiley said they will be adding a "mani-pedi" (nails) person in about two weeks.

Ms Wiley said, "We had a chance to move to this neighborhood which is very urban, walker-friendly, and diverse." Now that they are settled in, she added that she "loves her job, its flexibility, and the people" in her new neighborhood.

When asked what were the hair trends for 2013, Ms Wiley replied that the trend is for more natural styles, like natural curls, and more natural color. She added that many women are sporting a shorter style to show off the good bone structure of their faces.

Ms. Wiley has a sign which says: "BE Yourself". She specializes in color. She said that "ombre" is in, that is, a darker color fading to a lighter color. (Think darker roots showing on blondes for example).

The Salon is offering 20 percent off to first time, new customers. So, if you need a new "do" or new color for the new year, pop on in or make an appointment at 314-863-3618.
