Woman Assaulted in Clayton by Fake Cop

Police are looking for a man disguised as a police officer who pulled over, then punched a female driver.

Clayton Police Chief Tom Byrne told Fox 2 that the victim has been at the police department talking with detectives.

The incident happened at 8:15 a.m. this morning on Polo Drive in Clayton. The woman was on her way to work when the man pulled up behind her in a dark blue Crown Victoria with flashing lights on the dashboard.

The victim told police that she thought she was being pulled over for a traffic ticket.

According to Fox 2, the man reportedly opened the woman’s door and pulled her out then punched her in the face. He threw her down on the ground in front of her car. The woman hit the man in the groin, which allowed her to escape.

She later called police from a safer location.

Police are unsure if the man they are looking for was impersonating a police officer or is employed as a security guard.

If you have any information, call Clayton police at 314-645-3000.

Why didn't the Clayton Richmond Heights Patch include a description of the perp? The Post did....

"In addition to his gun belt and a gold-colored badge, the man wore a gray police-style shirt and dark pants. He was a white man in his late 30s, 6-feet-1, 190 pounds. He had short, dark-brown hair and a goatee."
