Clayton police said Kulkarni failed to yield while trying to make a left turn at the intersection of Hanley Road and Forsyth Boulevard. He crashed head-on with a car, police said, injuring the other driver. The driver went to Barnes-Jewish Hospital by ambulance.
Police said that Kulkarni smelled strongly of alcohol; that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy; that his balance was uncertain; that his speech appeared confused; and that he failed all sobriety tests.
Kulkarni’s blood-alcohol content was 0.129 percent, a police report states.
Bail has been set at $10,000.
